My screwed-up first attempt to reformat my laptop

Dear Confidant,
I did a terrible mistake while making my very first attempt to reformat my laptop on my own! It was not that I failed to do backup. I guess I was just too careless and inexperienced.
I lost a lot of data and I was not even sure what I lost. Let me recall what are some of them.. Photos! Ouch! *sobz* Ministry Plans and Evaluation.. this one not so bad as some of them I had hardcopies.. Interesting acticles.. past school project drafts.. Songs.. CK Memory Work and Song Videos! Have to trouble people to get replacement as I usually need the videos.. *signs* My 1st attempt of video editing! Ouch! *Wonders if Jackie still have them somewhere in his computer* i think, very unlikely! *aiyoyo*
What else? I can't remember! I don't want to recall anymore.. This time, my carelessness was too harsh lesson for me..
I called Jackie for help, asking him if there is anything I can do. Un-format the disk or something? Heh Heh! He asked me to check with Jonathan or Chee Yong. I messaged Jonathan. After a few minutes, Jonathan called me. He actually could retrieve my stuff unfortunately by the time I called him, I had not only format my laptop, I loaded in the operating system, software, hardware drivers etc. He felt that after all the loading, it was rather inpossible to retrieve formatted documents.
Still, I want to give thanks for this incident. (1) Thank God for the lesson learn. Not to be so careless. Not to do things without being 100% sure. I think I deleted some hidden files that are caused my backups to disappear.. (2) Thank God that I could format the laptop quite successfully though I took quite some time.. Whole night! Added on 6 Jan 2004, thanks to Anna =) --> (3) I thank God that my laptop now have more space since I lost some documents.
That's all the thanksgivings I can think of in this bad experience..
