"Unified" Countdown Chalet

Dear Confidant,
I just came back from "Unified" Countdown Chalet! It was titled “Unified” because my cell had this chalet with Jackie’s cell. We had a guiding verse as we end 2004:

“But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honour to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honoured, every part rejoices with it.” 1 Corinthians 12:24-26
It was a fruitful, fun, happy, cool, memorable but physically exhausting experience! We started the chalet started on 31 December (Friday) afternoon. I arrived at about 4 plus. I was very tired so I went to the room to sleep until 6pm. That morning, I woke up at 5am for work. That explained my tiredness.

By the time I woke up, it was time for BBQ! Eat, eat and eat until I was so full! Oh yeah, while eating, Yongwei said that he "laid tongs" on the Meiping half-cooked chicken wings. I laughed so hard and so long until I tear! Haha! It was a long time since I had a great laugh! After that, I played "UNO" with Janice, James and Hanli. That was to kill time as 2005 drew near. When Jackie came with the poker card, we play "dai dee". I enjoyed the games.

At about 11.30am, we got ready to head to the beach to prepare to countdown. Wow! It was so cool to count down with so many people LIVE! Haha! 5-4-3-2-1- HAPPY NEW YEAR! At the first few minutes of 2005, we took photos, played with the party poppers, ate chips and went round wishing each other happy new year! Someone bought red wine. I was offered quarter cup. But I gave it to Auntie Cecilia after taking a sip. I cannot take the taste.

After that some of them headed home. I waited for Andy, since he drove and we stay in the same area. He sais that he would like to stay a little longer with the guys. I realised that I was the only girl in the chalet. Thank God that I stayed! We played "Guessture" and I laugh and laugh so much! Wow! It was a fantastic time spent!

The next day, I return to meet them at McDonald's in the morning. After breakfast, we went back to the chalet to rest. We were supposed to bond outdoors through cycling or kayaking. However, due to the wet weather, we stayed indoors and played Pictionary and Guessture! FUN, LAUGHTER and MORE TUMMYACHE (due to the hard laughs)! We had lunch indoors before heading to Parkway shopping centre to buy stuff, enjoy coffee and chit-chat. We then returned to the chalet at 6 plus to rest before worship starts!

While most were resting and watching television, some were preparing for the later session, I choose to prepare my heart by reading His Word, worshipping and praying. Thank God that it was a fruitful time. I received a word from God regarding holiness and release it during the worship session. It was a dynamic time of corporate worship.

We then gathered in the respective cell to do review and evaluation. It was a full of thanksgivings for 2004, evaluation of our personal life, our cell, our ministries and our outreaching efforts and making plans for our coming Alpha course. Through this time spend on reviewing, I came to appreciate my cell more.

We multiplied in 2004 and each individual had new member in their cell to adapt with. I especially thank God for my caring and faithful cell leader, Jeremy. It was not easy to come under the leadership of a new person. Moreover, I came from an all-girls cell. Indeed, it was God who made everything work! Also I came to learn that doing evaluation as a cell was quite effective! It was encouraging to know that you are appreciated in other’s eyes!

Before heading home, we went for a very late dinner at the newly renovated hawker in East Coast Park. Food there was reasonably priced and was delicious!

Thank God for the time spent with my beloved brothers and sistas.
