About Church Camp 2002
Friday, Jun. 14, 2002 - 11:02 p.m.
Dearie Diary,
You are 4 months old today! Hee... Happy 4 months old. Indeed you had been a good channel where I can put down my thoughts.
I am back from the church camp 2002 on Monday. It was really EXCELLENT! We went to Malaysia (KL) for this year’s camp. The hotel where we lived and had our activities was also GREAT. It is called “Hotel Villa Subang”. The whole church had been divided and grouped according to our age at some time of the camp. Otherwise the youth will think that the children activities are very childish while the children will not understand the youth programme. This is to ensure that all will benefit from the programme. (I hope you get what I mean... think I did not explain it clearly :p)
In the afternoon of 8th June, my coach reached Hotel Villa Subang after 7 or 8 hours of journey. By right I think that I should feel lethargic. However I felt otherwise because the people who had arrived before us clapped and cheered to welcome us. The welcome party was really GOOD.
We then continued with ice-breakers for the whole church. We had a FUN time dancing “New friend found” and playing “Let the fruits gather”. After some camp briefing, we got into the various age-groups for the in-group programme. I was in the young adult in-group.
In our first in group time, we were told that we would be playing “Angel & Mortal” throughout the 3-day camp. The game is actually quite simple. You will pick one of the young adult’s name from a bag. The person that you picked would be your mortal. And you being the angel had to find opportunities to bless your mortal. Indeed throughout the camp, I was truly BLESSED by my angel. We then watched a VCD that talked about 12 different stages of a long-lasting and fruitful relationship with someone of the opposite sex.
In the evening, most of the in-group will be in the main hall (Classics 1) to listen to a message preached by Pastor Clement Wong. The topic is “Faith”. However, I had to miss it as I was on duty to help out in the children in-group. Children will have a separate programme as most may not be able to understand the message. I had an AWESOME time teaching “Faith” through singing, dancing and playing games.
The second day was ENJOYABLE as well. We had 2 in-group workshops in the morning. One is about setting Christ first and the other one is about finding life-partner. I got some trouble understanding the first workshop and took a lot of notes for the second one. :p lol... not because I am more interested in the 2nd workshop but because transparencies were flashed so I can take down notes.
In the afternoon, my in-group had an EXCITING time playing games. We played 6 different games and had a small competition between two teams. I was quite HAPPY that most of the games are the common one that I usually play. I especially remember 2 games, Disentanglement and Floor Monster. For disentanglement, each team had to disentangle the human chain. The thing that caused me to remember this game is that in the process of disentangling, 2 of my friends and I suddenly realized that we are out of the “tangled” team and we burst out laughing instantaneously. It was really funny at that moment. As for the Floor Monster game, I remembered it because my team won all the rounds. Lol...
In the evening, we had another message from Pastor Clement Wong. I am not on duty this time so I heard the message. Indeed he is a good speaker. He spoke about the 4 ingredients of faith. They are Revelation, Instruction, Obedience and Realisation.
The last message from Pastor Clement was in the morning of the last day. It was a good message on “How faith grows” and “The trials of our faith”. But I guess I would have benefit more if I had sleep earlier the previous night. Hee... Went for supper and then start packing my bag... Slept at 2am and woke up at 6.30am for Morning Prayer.
Wow... I actually wrote so long already. Indeed I am glad that I could go for this camp. Mm... By the way the camp theme “Something good’s gonna happen” Ha ha... Almost forgot to mention. Indeed something GOOD had already happen. I learn new things, got to know more about my church friends and some non-believers had take the step of faith to receive Christ.
Also, I am happy to know that my friends told me that unlike the previous camps, this year’s programme are more suitable to invite non-christians friends to join us. That means I can invite my friends next year. This year did not invite my friends as I did not know if they mind a bit of preaching and did not know much about the programme. Not that I went for the first camp, I would definitely invite friends next year. Hopefully at least one will come.
I think I better end here... Thank God for such a MEMORABLE and ENJOYABLE first church camp.
