My Home Group
Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002 - 10:14 p.m.
Dearie Diary,
I went to Daphne (my home group friend)'s house in the morning. Just in case you're wandering, home group is a small group of people from my church who meet up once a week other than Sunday in church. She cook lunch-- yummy spaghetti for the rest of the group. I thought it was really nice of her to do that.
Usually in our home meeting, we will have praise and worship, sharing anything that had happened to yourself during the week (you can think of it as catching up with each other), praying and discussing the previous sermon. But this week, it is something different. It is a Chinese New Year visitation so after the spaghetti treat, we watch TV and talk. Nothing much as compared to the usual meeting...lol
Well, I really appreciate this home group I have. It is my first home group. Why first home group (you might think)? As our home group grow bigger, we will utimately multipy into more groups. So when I say it is my first home group, I mean that I have not gone through any multiplication stage YET.
How God guides me to this home group is really special... Last year, I had a new year resolution that I will be commited to volunteering in an organisation. I then sign up National Volunteering Centre. I told them that I hope to work with children and they match me to Bethesda Community Services Society (BCSS). I gave children small group tuition and did metoring sessions with them every Saturday afternoon.
The volunteers there are attending sunday service in Bethesda Community. I always wanted to be a Christian but did not accept Christ until last year due to objectation from my parents. I guess God know that and he sent one of the volunteer there (her name is Ginder) to invite me to Alpha. Alpha is a 10-week course that help one to explore Christianity.
I attended every single one of them though it is not a must that I have to go through all 10 of them. And I finally decided to accept Christ despite of parental objection. I think I forgot to mention that the Alpha coursemates are actually my home group friends. Ginder is the home group leader.
Wow! I realised that I wrote a lot about my house group. From what happen to the latest meeting, to our agenda, to how God bring me to this group... I think I will not tell you much about my home group members yet... except for their names. They are Ginder, Daphne, Evan, Chanelle, Janice and Meiping.
That's all for tonight...
